What Is 4Craft?
A learning platform for every stage of the Masonic journey.
You've heard of Freemasonry. Maybe a family member was a Mason, or you drove past a lodge, or you just want to understand what it's all about.
4Craft gives you an honest, no-pressure introduction. Browse freely. No account needed. No sales pitch. Just the history, the symbols, and the philosophy, all drawn from published, cited sources.
You've decided to take the first step. 4Craft helps you get ready: what to expect, how to prepare, what the fraternity will ask of you.
The "Before You Begin" path covers the petition process, lodge etiquette, Masonic history, and what initiation night is like. It's all based on the Grand Lodge of New Mexico's own Candidate Education Course.
When you arrive at the lodge door, you'll feel ready.
You've taken the first degree. 4Craft walks you through the symbols, tools, and teachings of the EA: the 24-inch gauge, the common gavel, the northeast corner, the obligation, the charge.
Study the lessons. Take the quizzes. Practice with a brother and prepare for your proficiency. Go at your own pace.
The second degree opens the door to education, the liberal arts and sciences, and the winding stairs to the Middle Chamber. 4Craft helps you dig into what the Craft asks of a man in the prime of his responsibility.
Explore the pillars, the jewels, the letter G, and the wages of corn, wine, and oil. All drawn from the NM Candidate Education Course Part III.
The Sublime Degree isn't the end. It's the start of a lifetime of learning. 4Craft covers your rights and responsibilities, the ballot box, financial obligations, the NM Constitution and By-Laws, and what it means to protect the reputation of the Fraternity.
This is also where the appendant bodies open up. As a Master Mason, you're eligible to petition York Rite, Scottish Rite, the Shrine, and other Masonic organizations.
Leading a lodge isn't something you figure out on the job. 4Craft provides a structured five-year officer track, from Junior Deacon through Worshipful Master, grounded in the GL NM Lodge Officers Handbook and Constitution.
Junior Deacon: Learn the mechanics. Duties, procedures, ritual.
Senior Deacon: Understand the purpose behind every procedure.
Junior Warden: Interview members, assess the lodge, draft a 5-year vision.
Senior Warden: Turn that vision into a concrete plan. Calendar, officers, budget.
Worshipful Master: Lead the lodge and develop the officers coming up behind you.
The Blue Lodge is the foundation of all Masonry. Beyond it, a whole family of organizations extends and deepens the Masonic experience. Each has its own degrees, traditions, and teachings, and each requires Master Mason membership to join.
